Rankings Still Coming!

With apologies, folks, it's been a crazy weekend and I need another day to finish up the rankings. I'll have them up tomorrow!

UPDATE 5/20: Uhhh... better make that later today/tonight. I'm really sorry, folks, I'm just buried this week. I won't be making a habit of this, I promise.

We get what we pay for! ;)
Love your blog and especially enjoy your rankings. Great job & thanks much for taking your time to do these.

i've been checking everyday on your site (multiple times per day) for an update! love your blog, i'm addicted.

How dare you let your real life get in the way of your blogging! Priorities man.

Just kidding. Waiting with baited breath, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

FWIW, (nothing, in fact), here are my rankings:

1. Richard
2. Antonia
3. Stefanie
4. Dale
5. Lisa
6. Spike

What do we want? FREE ENTERTAINMENT!
When do we want it? LAST WEEK!

My ratings are highly scientific because I use actual numbers:

1. Richard 6
2. Dale -2
3. Antonia -4
4. Stephanie -6
5. Lisa -18
6. Spike -22

So as I'm sitting here jonesing for the current rankings, I start looking back at the archives, the Episode 1 rankings in particular. Here's what jumped out at me- your top 4 from Episode 1:

1. Richard
2. Stephanie
3. Dale
4. Antonia

With the possible exception (for me anyway) of flip-flopping Dale & Stephanie, it's spot on, prescient even.

Well done!

I look at the previews and some of Ted Allen's off the cuff comments about "shocking" elliminations as meaning Dale wil be going home soon. Maybe this week. So, I'm keeping Dale low in my rankings so I can say "I told you so" at a later date. And, he's done some amazing stuff, but he also seems to work at his best only when he's with Richard. When you work with the all-star, you look good too.

I really wanted to put Lisa below Spike. But, I couldn't. Spike may have won the Quickfire, but his chicken salad was pretty lame. And Lisa, while still in the bottom, again, still gets some props in my book for making a good wedding cake last week. I know its top chef, not top baker, but a good cake ain't easy.

I've really enjoyed the blog. Thanks. I'll keep coming even when the TC season is out. Anyway, my rankings are:

1. Dale (think Richard is showing some chinks in the armor)
2. Richard
3. Stephanie (peaked too early)
4. Antonia (really like her, but she seems to be more solid than extraordinary...not my definition of a Top Chef
5. Spike (takes too many opportunities to play the game instead of focusing on the food)
6. Lisa (I hate her with a passion. She can certainly cook, but I think she's pretty much out of her depth at this point in the season. She or Spike should be next to go, all things equal)

My ranking would have to be

1) Richard (I thought his tuna burrito looked really good, and he is a great team player who will excel at restaurant wars)
2) Dale
3) Stephanie (a solid competitor who just seems to miss the 'wow' factor with her food)
4) Antonia
5) Lisa
6) Spike (I don't know if it's his personality or just the way they edit each show, but he becomes less and less likable every episode. Self-confidence is one thing but learn to take criticism).

I guess next week is restaurant wars?? Looking ahead, I would imagine they split into teams of 3. Obviously, the worst possible team would be Lisa, Spike, and Dale. Both Richard and Stephanie have shown the ability to work well on teams and move into a leadership roles if needed. Those two on a team along with Dale or Antonia would be unstoppable. Richard normally does a good job of paying attention to every detail which is important in restaurant wars.

Greg,

The previews make it look like the teams are Steph, Richard and Antonia versus Dale, Spike with Spike and Steph serving the double-edged front of the house gig. (See their clothes) Needless to say, not looking good for the latter team. Kind of hard to send home the front of the house guy, unless he's completely obnoxious ala Steven in Season 1, so that would lead me to believe that Dale or Lisa could be getting the chop tomrrow.

This is pure dedcutive speculation on my part, so we'll see. For all I know, Spike spills his Butternut Squash Soup all over Bordain's shirt and that's the end of him and he gets axed.

I think this season of top chef is very interesting and I am glad that you can see the skills and talent Dale possesses unlike a many other viewers of the show that watches the show as if it's an episode of the Hills. This is a cooking show where cooks like Marcel and Hung reached the finals, and in the latter case won.

My rankings would be
1. Richard - an elimination of Richard would be 10 times the Coup Tre's elimination was. I would be completely shocked if they sent Richard home before the finals.
2. Dale
3. Stephanie
4. Lisa - I feel like she has skills, but never asserts herself, god knows why.
5. Antonia - I feel like she doesn't cook high-class enough. I don't know if it's just me, but if she refers to her cooking as excellent because she cooks as a stay-home mom one more time, I would have to believe she can not play on Richard/Dale's level.
6. Spike - to borrow a line from Dale, why is he still here?

Love Anthony Bordain, i am glad he has time from his busy schedule to rate top chef. I read some of his books and they were pure genius in its entertainment value.
