Top Oddsmaker
So I'm clicking through some referral traffic, which I do (obsessively), and I come across this:
So let me get this straight... I can win money handicapping Top Chef and NOBODY TOLD ME?!?!?
Look at my preseason and current top four (coincidentally, now Vegas' top four):
| Opening Line | Current | |
| Michael V. | 11/1 | 7/2 |
| Jennifer C. | 20/1 | 9/2 |
| Kevin | 8/1 | 5/1 |
| Bryan | 15/1 | 6/1 |
$100 on each at the outset of the season, and a win from any of the four would have earned me anywhere from $800 to $2000.
That's it. I'm going to Vegas before next season starts.
UPDATE : Ah, it's purely promotional (Wynn's Bookmaker Sets Odds On Top Chef Las Vegas Contestants). You're all off the hook. And my get rich quick scheme is dashed. (Thanks, Dave)

Wow a very interesting find. If you check the opening lines Preeti & Ron were the favorites at 6/1 and 7/1 respectively (not counting Jen Z & Eve because they aren't listed). I think I agree with Dom's current rankings more than Vegas' odds.
I think there's a typo in this weeks odds because take a look at Ron, he's at 10/2, which is wrong because it would just be 5/1. I'm guessing he's supposed to be 20/1.

Another thought... Is this even possible? Gambling on things that have already happened and been recorded to film doesn't seem like something Vegas would do.

I don't know this for a fact, but I'll bet (ahem) that these are promotional lines, like the Oscar odds given out before that event, and that you can't lay real bets down on it. Didn't a European casino get burned by taking bets on a reality show with a finale that was already taped and in the can?

I have had it with that stupid Bravo teaser covering up a quarter of the screen! The next time there are idiot Housewife tits covering up somebody's face while they're speaking, I will probably pass out from rage.

If they are really going to axe two next time out with the QF and EC why didn't they take two this time? Both were worthless anyways.
How did they really separate the two on any quantitative measure anyways?
Bacon once again reigns supreme. Has anyone ever gone home with bacon a component of their dish in any season on any episode, ever?

babyarm says: "Has anyone ever gone home with bacon a component of their dish in any season on any episode, ever?"
I may be misremembering, but I think Lauren (1st eliminated last season) went home for an apple dish that had bacon in it.

Surprised that Kevin started as an 8:1 favorite, better odds than Jen or either of the brothers. BTW, if you were to put down $100 on all 4 right now (assuming you could find someplace to take your bet at those odds), you'd at worst lose $50 and can win $50 ~ $250, as long as one of the top 4 wins. That's actually a pretty good bet. I wonder if I can find a London bookie who I could convince this show was being broadcast live... :)
